X-RAY SILVER*

X-RAY SILVER

CLOSE

  • 886 by The Royal Mint uses X ray silver produced by Betts Metals using sustainable production on site at The Royal Mint. All the silver sourced is sustainable, traceable metal refined from medical X ray film, creating the first scalable product of its type.

  • The Betts Group have an exclusive partnership with The Royal Mint and are an industry leader with its ESG credentials and as a precious metal refiner. The company has worked with the NHS to acquire unused X ray film and has the capability to refine around five tonnes of film a week.

This seemingly understated pendant reveals a showstopping display when light meets the surface, a technique known as caustics. Shining a light at a particular angle casts a reflection of The Royal Mint’s quintessential Cross Crosslet and Tower onto nearby surfaces. Combined with this revolutionary feature, and finished with a high polish, this timeless Pendant is designed to last beyond a lifetime, inspired by the specialist skills and expertise of Britain's oldest maker, The Royal Mint.

  • Superior high polish finish.
  • Hallmarking includes the initials of CEO and Deputy Master of The Royal Mint, the exclusive Cross Crosslet and the prestigious Tower makers marks.
  • Delivered in signature gift box, handmade in Italy.
  • Travel pouch and polishing cloth included.
  • 18 inch Trace Chain.
  • Pendant width 16 mm

CRAFTSMANSHIP

“Moving back into jewellery is in some ways a step back in technology: back to hand skills, back to craftsmanship.”

Sustainable sourcing

The first luxury jewellery brand using recovered gold sourced from discarded electronic waste in products made on its own site.

The Royal Mint has partnered with Canadian clean technology firm Excir, using a patented chemical formula to extract gold from discarded laptops and mobile phones.

By promoting sustainable sourcing and a UK-based circular economy, 886 by The Royal Mint represents a new era for the home of precious metals.
