886 by The Royal Mint bespoke services offer you the possibility of crafting unique jewellery to celebrate the most memorable occasions in your life.
Our team of highly qualified store team specialists and traditionally trained in-house jewellers can help you create an individual design or craft a personalised gift for your loved one.
Trained in the old traditions of jewellery craft and using a combination of old-established techniques with handheld tools together with the most up-to-date technology, your bespoke commission will be crafted on-site at our Burlington Arcade store, the landmark shopping destination for British craftsmanship.
Our knowledgeable in-house expert will guide you through each step of the processes from design concept through to realisation to create your original customised piece.
Hand Engraving
As knowledge of many heritage crafts dies out, traditional hand engraving is valued more than ever today. Perhaps the oldest form of art known to man, the cutting of designs onto a plain surface has been with us since ancient times.
We offer hand engraving on all our jewellery, where surfaces allow, with a full design service including comprehensive guidance on inscription layouts, monograms, deep seal signet ring engravings and crests as well as figurative commissions.
Engraving is a highly personal way to mark and preserve the custodianship of any piece to be valued as an heirloom over the generations.
Specialist wooden handled tools called gravers consist of a square tempered steel section ground and polished at the tip to produce a simple “v” shaped line into the surface of the metal that is being engraved. The lines are finely layered together to create lettering, heraldic crests and figurative designs.
The 886 Chain Bar
The Chain Bar service offers our newest experience in custom jewellery creation. Our Burlington Arcade boutique team will assist in designing a bespoke necklace, bracelet or ring for you or others - the perfect gift.
Choosing from six 886 chain link designs, all made in the UK, our store team will assist in creating a design with a made-to-measure chain length across three precious metals, Sterling silver, 9ct and 18ct yellow gold, all measured and fitted on site and completed by our in-house jeweller on the same day by appointment. Each necklace and bracelet is finished with a hallmarked tag.
A variety of 886 pendants and charms are available as add-ons to your design, engravable on request.
