The 2027 Sovereign continues the coin's return to its traditional yellow-gold colour, following 2026's landmark 500th anniversary year – marking 500 years since the coinage reforms under Henry VIII first established 22 carat gold as The Sovereign's standard alloy, a specification that still defines the coin today. It also carries the range's security features, including micro-text engraving of the Order of the Garter motto and a half-tone latent image alternating between the Tudor Crown, The King's royal cypher, and the Tudor Rose.
